When hockey365’s trip to St. Louis for the Blues / Avalanche game Tuesday night was postponed due to inclement weather across the state of Missouri, and much of America as well, we decided to take advantage of two class-free days by holding the Snowpocalypse Shootout on EA’s NHL 11. We quickly recruited a few guys from the rest of our floor to play in the tournament and put together fantasy teams to play with. The tournament is round robin followed by a six team playoff, in 3-5-7 format, with the winner receiving the coveted “Warrior Sword“.
The teams are as follows
Dan Kelly – Boston Shamrocks
Stars: Ilya Kovalchuk (ATL), Pavel Datsyuk (DET), Mikka Kiprusoff (CGY)
Justin Walker – Owen Sound Huskies
Stars: Alexander Ovechkin (WAS), Vincent Lecavalier (TB), Ryan Miller (BUF)
Matt Hundley – San Diego Undertakers
Stars: Zdeno Chara (BOS), Marian Hossa (CHI), Rick Nash (CLS)

Game 11 – Regina vs. St. Louis
There were some tense moments throughout, including a go-ahead goal in the second period courtesy of Tuomo Ruutu, but after two back to back goals late in the third period by Tournament scoring leader Evgeni Malkin and Milan Michalek, the Blizzards avoided the day’s second upset with a 2-1 win.

After going scoreless through 4 games, Regina superstar Sidney Crosby finally found the back of the net en route to a 3-1 upset over the stale Nuggets.
Game 14 – San Diego vs. Boston
There was a scare when Boston coach Daniel “No Running” Kelly couldn’t find his way to the San Diego Sports Arena this morning, but presumably after a rousing locker room speech, the Shamrocks shut out the Undertakers to clinch home ice in the playoffs.
Game 15 – Owen Sound vs. St. Louis
Early goals from Marian Gaborik and Mike Ribeiro seemed to give St. Louis an early edge and game-withstanding lead, but after St. Louis captain Shea Weber took a delay of game penalty, sending the Huskies on a 5-on-3 powerplay, the early lead slowly evaporated. After falling deeper into penalty trouble, the Blizzards eventually yielded a go-ahead goal to Vincent Lecavalier, sending Owen Sound into first place with a 3-2 win.
